DILTON Marsh Primary School has taken part and hosted a range of activities to mark the centenary of World War One.
The school has created a ‘Garden of Remembrance’ to commemorate the 100 years since the start of WW1 and also hosted their own Act of Remembrance led by their Vicar and with the local Police Constable laying the wreath below the cross in their new Garden of Remembrance
They took part in the Village Act of Remembrance – with the school’s two oldest children representing the rest of the school and laying a posy at the memorial alongside the other wreaths
They also had a two-day visit from the Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre – spending half a day with each KS2 class looking at first hand evidence of life in Dilton Marsh during WW1. Children also created a piece of creative art entitled ‘Poppies’ that all the Year 6 children made together and this was installed in the school hall along with a plaque bearing all the names of the fallen from the village.
