A repair cafe will be held at the Paragon Hall on Saturday 2nd June. The event has been organised by Westbury Shed members and local businesses, in conjunction with the Waste Education Team at Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, funded by Wiltshire Council.
Repair Cafés started in Amsterdam in 2009 and are now being held in countries around the world. Westbury is now becoming part of this international initiative to repair and save.
Westbury Shed said, “Do you have items lurking at home that are in need of a small fix to make them useable again? If something’s broken does it go straight in the bin, or do you wonder if it could be mended but don’t know where to start?
“Come along on Saturday 2nd June with your small household and electrical items, bikes and sewing repairs and our volunteer repairers will see what they can do to save them. Alongside Westbury Shed members, EJ Crafts and Imperial Charity will also be providing support.
“Broken items can often be replaced with new ones for not much more than it costs to fix them, but this means we are throwing away the resources used to make the item, the energy used to make it and as there is no ‘away’ we have to find somewhere to put it. This Repair Café truly is a community initiative.”
The event runs from 10am-12 midday. For more information, contact Westbury Shed on westburyshed@gmail.com or 07375 524398.
