COUNCILLORS have voted that an easy-to-understand, annual report of air quality breaches should be made available to them from data collected by a new device they purchased.
Westbury Town Council bought the EarthSense Zephyr sensor in March with the aim of gathering local air quality data and raising concerns with the relevant authority where appropriate, or to reassure the public.
Considering Wiltshire Council’s guidance for the device at a recent policy and resources meeting, members voted in favour of cllr Gordon King’s proposal that a report, more comprehensible than website figures, should be produced for them.
Cllr King explained, “A report should be given to the committee telling us the number of times it’s been breached and how.
“Not all of us spend all our time looking at the website and sometimes it takes some understanding.
“A report of breaches is a courtesy,” he said. “We purchased these devices and the purpose should be to provide us with the information, and that should be given at the end of the municipal year.”
The guidance report outlined Westbury Town Council’s procedures and process for handling relevant legislation and certification. location, management information and data.
