WESTBURY Leigh Primary School pupils who have been exemplary in following the school rules were awarded the status of school ambassador at the end of the last term.
The school says that the pupils are a role model to other pupils as they live out the school’s values. Westbury Leigh ambassadors have a badge to wear and are often called on to take on additional roles around school, such as showing visitors around as well as leading by example in all they do.
Mr Fowler, deputy head teacher explained, “These are the pupils that the staffing team felt live out our school dream of ‘aspire not to have more but to be more’ and demonstrate on a daily basis our school’s core values by being ambitious and courageous in all they do.
“Taking pride in their work, in their own and others’ achievements as well as celebrating individuality and being able to work effectively as part of a team. Our ambassadors show that they respect, appreciate and care for the environment and the wider school community and provide a positive example to the wider the school community.”
Head teacher Mrs Grimsey added, “It is a real achievement to be chosen to represent the school. We feel that this role helps children to develop their leadership qualities in guiding and supporting others in following school expectations and making the most of every situation – we are exceptionally proud of them.
“They have taken on responsibility by being in the right place at the right time, doing the right thing in order to contribute to the success of the school. They are an inspiration to us all.”
