A LOCAL resident has highlighted their concerns about speeding in Station Road, Westbury, after her cat was hit by a motorist.
The cat survived, but had to endure the trauma of an amputation and the vet’s costs of X-rays, drugs, and an overnight stay.
The resident said, “There is a huge amount of cars after 7.00pm who race up and down Station Road in Westbury, some at 50 or 60mph.
“Station Road is a built up area – the houses on either side of the road are a dead giveaway, therefore there is speed limit!
“My cat was left with horrific injuries after the mindless, uncaring motorist hit him and obviously didn’t stop to check if he was dead or alive.”
Advice from the police is that any issues with speeding in the town should be referred to Westbury Area Board, who can then put in monitoring equipment. They can ascertain the scale of the problem and then put in a community speedwatch if deemed necessary.
