SPEEDING drivers near Westbury Infant School are frightening children and parents, town councillors heard.
On the council’s agenda of possible issues to pass on to Wiltshire Council at a recent meeting, a resident wrote, “I have some worries and complaints about drivers near Westbury Infant School.
“Lots of drivers speeding. Why is [there] no sign of school and 20mph sign within school hours?
“It is very frightening sometimes as drivers are speeding as lots of children are walking to school. Also, parking on the grass in front of the school and the same very bad situation at the back of the school.”
A proposal by cllr Nick Pyne to not pass the concern on to the unitary authority because he thought all schools suffered the same problems and nothing could be done, was withdrawn after cllr Mike Sutton said there was a risk an accident or incident could happen and the town council could be accused of having dismissed the concerns.
“I would suggest we try and get more information,” cllr Sutton said, and all members voted in favour of sending the issue to Wiltshire Council.
