A LOCAL high-end Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) company has been delivering workshops at Matravers School as part of the lead up to the White Horse Soapbox, which is taking place on May 21st at Long River Road Farm.
Arke Ltd, an independent business based in Westbury, worked for a month with Matravers School students to bring world-class problem-solving skills to the town’s young people.
The workshops, led by Arke Ltd Consultant Shona Allman, also offered the students an insight into STEM-based career paths available in the area.
The students were made up from members of the Combined Cadet Force and the contingent was able to ask Arke Ltd staff members about how they forged their careers in STEM.
The White Horse Soapbox Derby’s strapline is ‘a practical introduction to STEM for young people,’ with the main focus on encouraging under 18s from Westbury and across Wiltshire to learn more about STEM.
If your company would like to partner with any of the schools in town as part of this event, just contact Ryan at events@westburytowncouncilc.gov.uk.
Arke Ltd is a primary sponsor of White Horse Soapbox Derby, along with Daykin Estates, Torn and Carrington Smith.
The Westbury Town Council event is supported by Western Skip Hire, AB Dynamics, Pierre Cochon, The Paper Bag Co, White Horse Cad and The Duke at Bratton.
