PLANNING permission has been granted to convert Magic Hand Car Wash on Trowbridge Road into two takeaway food units, despite objections from the town council on a number of grounds.
These included highway safety – vehicles having to cross the carriageway when making a right turn; lack of parking spaces; the close proximity of the second unit to Teal Close; concern about late night operations and its impact on nearby residents; and overdevelopment of the space available.
The current site, which is used as a hand car wash centre, will be extended with an additional building attached – the overhead canopy will remain.
