The Rotary Club of Westbury have entered into a joint enterprise with the Avon Valley Runners to organise The Imber Ultra Marathon over 33 miles.
The marathon will start at Leighton Recreation Centre in Westbury. It ascends the Salisbury Plain escarpment following the Imber Range Perimeter Path anti clockwise.
It will pass round Warminster and a number of Iron Age forts on footpaths, metalled roads, bridleways and tracks. On the way runners will pass through some of the remote parts of southern England and the German village at the halfway mark. The final couple of miles include the biggest descent of the day back to the finishing line at Leighton Recreation Centre.
Should you wish to enter please apply via the web site www.imber-ultra.org and follow the links to entry form.
If you don’t feel like entering the marathon then please come along and support the runners. All proceeds from this event will be divided and given to Whizz-Kidz and Dorothy House.
If your company would like to sponsor the event or just give a donation to two worthy causes please contract David Pike on 01380 830055.
