Ladies from the five local Women’s Institutions enjoyed an evening with Menno Meyjes a Dutch-born screenwriter, film director and producer on Monday 27th April.
Menno entertained the Weavers Group of WI with his life story. Menno Meyjes is best known for his screenplay of the 1985 film ‘The Colour Purple’ adapted from the novel by Alice Walker, directed by Steven Spielberg. In 1989 he gained recognition for co-writing ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’ with George Lucas.
Menno gave up the bright lights of Hollywood for the wonderful West Country where he lives locally with his wife and three children.
Menno kindly donated his fee to charity.
Three members of Dilton Marsh WI provided further entrainment reading hilarious poems including ‘Petey the Snake and the hissing pit’. Fabulous homemade cakes were provided by Bratton WI.
