WESTBURY residents who love the town and want to make it an even better place to live will be ideal candidates to fill spaces on the town council.
Following the uncontested May 2021 town and parish elections, Westbury Town Council has 12 councillors out of the permitted 15. This means there are enough councillors to carry out its business and that it has the relevant criteria to obtain the Power of Competence. However, the council would like to fill the three empty town council seats.
Speaking about the town council’s current membership of 12 councillors, town clerk, Deborah Urch, told White Horse News, “This gives the council more flexibility to carry out projects and decide how it spends its money.
“However, the town council is super busy with many large projects on the horizon and at the annual meeting it resolved to fill the three vacancies through co-option. We hope residents who love Westbury and want to make it an even better place to live will step forward to help the council achieve its aims and priorities.”
