GRANTS were awarded to two Westbury organisations at the town council’s annual meeting last week.
Members approved £5,000 for the Westbury Heritage Society towards a new website, display material and the rent of their new premises in the town library. The sum of £1,000 was awarded to Blue Circle Bowls Club, for a portable watering system for their bowling green.
Town clerk Deborah Urch said, “As part of the town council’s ongoing support to local organisations and groups, it invites groups who meet the criteria and can demonstrate how they benefit the Westbury community, to apply for a grant. In 2020-21 we received a diverse range of applications from groups who needed help becoming Covid-secure.
“The town council also provides larger grants to partner organisations such as the Westbury Festival, Crosspoint and the Westbury Heritage Society. Westbury Heritage Society is planning some new and exciting activities to highlight and promote the interesting history of Westbury.
“The town council 2021-22 grant aid is now open to applicants and information can be found on our website. The closing date for applications is 25th June.”
