WESTBURY Town Council will soon be advertising for a co-opted councillor after no-one came forward to request an election to fill the vacant position on the council.
The council was left with the vacancy for the Westbury West Ward following the resignation of long-standing councillor Russell Hawker, who stepped down from his role after 16 years.
Town clerk, Deborah Urch, told White Horse News, “The town council’s only option now is to co-opt. This will be discussed at the next town council meeting on Monday 5th November.
“We will then advertise for a co-opted councillor, and candidates will be invited to give a presentation to the council before the role is put to a vote.”
