Westbury’s wait for a new post office is almost over with plans to reopen a branch in McColls in the High Street.
The news was welcomed by the town council which has been working with the Post Office to try and resolve the issue since the branch disappeared with the closure of the Coop store in October 2017.
“It is a huge relief to all of us – this facility has been much missed in the town and we welcome its return. Its new location will not only provide essential services but will hopefully also boost footfall in the High Street. The whole town is grateful for McColls stepping in and helping out the community” explained the Town Mayor, Ian Cunningham.
The new branch was due to open this week, Friday 15 March and the opening hours will be Monday to Sunday from 6am to 8pm.
A Post Office spokesperson explained that customers will be able to access services at a low-screened, open-plan, modern serving point that’s part of the retail counter. The branch will offer a wide range of Post Office products and services over longer opening hours, so customers can access it when convenient.
