THE Charlotte Bolwell memorial trophy, given to a village resident who has given back to the community, needs a home for the year.
Charlotte Bolwell, daughter of Dilton residents Greg and Helen Bolwell, died in 2006 at the age of 23. When she was born she spent 16 weeks in the NICU at Bath RUH. After her death, Greg and Helen decided to start fundraising for a number of causes.
As well as raising money, the couple introduced the Charlotte Bolwell memorial trophy to give to an individual or group in Dilton Marsh who have worked tirelessly for the town, dedicated themselves to their favourite charities or someone who has simply been a good neighbour.
Last year the trophy was won by Shannon Pierce, a young schoolgirl who raised over £200 for Fairfield Farm College after taking part in a sponsored silence. However, this year Greg and Helen have not received any nominations.
If you know someone who deserves to be recognised as a community hero. email Greg at gregorbolwell@yahoo.com They have to be residents of Dilton Marsh and under the age of 25.
Greg said, “This is the third year that we have run the trophy competition. However, we have no-one to award it to this year and it would be a shame to have the trophy sat at our home instead of given to someone who deserves it. We want to keep it in the village, as that is where Charlotte lived, but want to open it up to everyone and hope to hear stories of people who have been outstanding throughout the year. It has been 13 years now without Charlotte and her name will always live on.”
