THERE is still the chance to witness unseen parts of Westbury next month with National Heritage open days. Discover old churches, medieval windows and buildings that are usually out of bounds to the public.
With thanks to Westbury’s Heritage Society and the town council, Westbury is now part of the National Heritage open day scheme, allowing people to visit places that aren’t usually accessible by the public. This is the first year Westbury has been involved in the scheme.
Have you ever wondered what secrets lie behind Westbury’s historic buildings? There are four sites introduced this year, with the hope to increase this in future years. The sites include; Leighton Estate – which has been extremely popular and has already been fully booked; Pinniger Finch’s medieval window and the Quaker burial ground; Westbury House, also known as the library; and St Mary’s Church in Old Dilton.
The event will run from Thursday 6th September to Sunday 9th September. Full details of times and bookings are available on www.heritageopendays.org.uk.
