A CAT from Upton Scudamore which went missing in August was re-united with its owners before Christmas thanks to an advertisement in the White Horse News.
Nika the cat went missing on its owners Rebecca and Gareth’s wedding day causing much distress to the newly wed couple who had handed out leaflets, posted Facebook requests for information before using the White Horse News to ask readers if they knew Nika’s whereabouts.
The story of Nika’s disappearance was read by a lady that had visited Upton Scudamore in November when she found a cat in a bad way by the Angel Inn pub. She had taken the cat which turned out to be Nika to Garston Vestiary group before he was passed to Cats Action Trust ready for adoption.
Luckily the advert was spotted before Nika was given a new home much to the relief of Rebecca and Gareth. Rebecca said, “We are truly lucky that the information was included in that particular issue as she was on the mend and would have shortly been put up for adoption, at which point we would not have had any claim to her. We are so happy to have her home and cannot thank everyone enough who helped.
“When we were reunited the floodgates opened and I almost fell to my knees but grabbed hold of Gareth instead who steadied me. We were totally elated, we really could not believe our luck but at the same time we felt very sad at all she had been through.
“Now, just over one month after having her home, she is back to her usual self although enjoys cuddles and strokes much more. She is back to a healthy weight and we are just awaiting the results of some blood tests to confirm if she is over an illness which she contracted.”
