Volunteers turned up to give the villages of Chapmanslade and Edington a spring clean recently.
Chapmanslade Parish councillor Adam Oakley said, “Although the population of our parish is less than 700, 20 dedicated volunteers turned up on the stormy and wet Saturday afternoon. The group split into teams and managed to cover the whole village in an hour.
“The frequent downpours did not dampen our spirits and we gave the village a good tidying-up. Hopefully passing motorists will now notice how clean our village is and in future will refrain from throwing litter out of their cars as they travel through Chapmanslade. However, we definitely needed the hot drinks Ben, the landlord of our friendly pub, The Three Horseshoes, kindly provided for us at the end of our session.”
Phil Jefferson, parish council chairman, added, “Chapmanslade is a good place to live. We are a strong community and we are all exceedingly proud of our village. The fact that 20 willing volunteers turned out on such a horrible afternoon to tidy up the village is testament to this.”
