Westbury community engagement manager, Graeme Morrison, is asking for members of the public to get in touch with him if they would be interested in participating in a volunteer working group, to help manage the lakes area of The Mead in Westbury.
“I believe that with a little bit of work, the parkland area of The Mead has huge potential to be widely used by local people for picnics, community events and other activities,” said Graeme. “The area has become overgrown and the prospect of managing it is a bit daunting when you first walk around the lake. However, I know from experience that with a bit of guidance and equipment from Wiltshire Council’s Countryside Team, a small group of volunteers can make a big difference in just a few hours on the site.”
A date has not yet been set but anyone who is interested in getting involved is invited to register their interest by emailing graeme.morrison@wiltshire.gov.uk
There is no minimum age and the intention is for the group to meet outside of term time, so families will be very welcome to come along. Children under 16 will need to be accompanied by an adult.
