THE fifth annual Westbury 5k Race is returning for a four race series this year – and organisers say that it has been selected to be part of the Wiltshire Road Race League, which means the county’s top runners could be coming to the town to compete.
The first race will take place on Tuesday 2nd May at 7.30pm on the West Wilts Trading Estate, with registration at Players Bar. There will be subsequent races in June, July and August. The route is a three lap flat and fast course, all on road which promises fast times around the trading estate.
Westbury 5k Race director, Gary MacAlister, says, “Avon Valley Runners have been organising a 5k race on the West Wilts Trading Estate since 2018.
“We are delighted to welcome you all back to Westbury for the 2024 edition of the Westbury 5k. This event is open to all and our friendly volunteers and marshals will make sure everyone has a fantastic time and are well supported.
“We are returning for a four race series in 2024 and this year the race has been selected to be part of the Wilt shire Road Race League. This means we should be attracting some of the county’s top runners to come and take part. In the past, we have even had former Olympians take part, such as Jo Pavey and Heather Fell. The race has a capacity of 200 runners, and we also rely on a team of 20 volunteers to help deliver the race.”
