WESTBURY Area Family History Group will welcome David Chilton, from the Wiltshire Family History Society, on Thursday 26th October, whose talk is entitled ‘Asylums and their records.’
The talk is based on William Judd, committed to Fisherton Asylum as a criminal lunatic, his transfer to Broadmoor and subsequent transfer to the Wiltshire Asylum at Devizes. The talk expands to take in the reasons for committal to an asylum and the records kept on the patients, based on data collected by Nigel Lampard.
The Westbury Area Family History Group meets every 4th Thursday of the month at 7.15pm in the foyer of Westbury’s Methodist Church. The branch has regular interesting and informative talks and discussions by members and guest speakers on all aspects of family history and general history.
