A WESTBURY business owner is celebrating after she was named as one of the UK’s most impressive female entrepreneurs.
Pippa Birch is the founder of Pipster Solutions Ltd, a specialist bid writing company in the highways sector that operates out of Heywood House. Pippa is being profiled among 100 inspirational female entrepreneurs from across the country as part of Small Business Britain’s ‘f:Entrepreneur #IAlso100’ campaign to celebrate the multi-achievements of women running businesses in the UK today.
Pipster Solutions provides practical help for winning public sector work in the highways industry, offering versatile and bespoke solutions. The company’s core services focus on public sector bids, mainly in highways and civil engineering, and include consultation, management, coordination, writing, and review.
Pippa was recognised by f:Entrepreneur for launching ‘Thursday Throng’, an online community group where bidding professionals connect, share knowledge, and feel less isolated. She also created ‘Bid Bites’, a monthly, hour-long Zoom session, focusing on a different bid-related subject each month and sharing professional thoughts across the bidding community.
On being featured in the #IAlso100 lineup, Pippa said, “This is such an amazing honour, especially considering how many other worthy businesses were mentioned, as it means we are on the right path!
“We’re different to the other companies in the list as we help other businesses to win work, employ more staff and grow. Our clients are winning the work they need to flourish, and my team is thriving personally. This #IAlso award celebrates these achievements, not just for our clients, but for our profession. The other #IAlso women are inspirational, and I look forward to getting to know them this year, and celebrating together.”
As well as being named as one of the UK’s top female entrepreneurs, Pippa’s business was also shortlisted in the South West Business and Community Awards; Pipster Solutions was named as one of the top three employers in the area, Pippa herself was in the top three female entrepreneurs and staff member, Sajia Ahmed, was named in the top three apprentices at the awards.
“We are so proud of our successes,” Pippa continued. “We were up against some of the biggest and best companies in the South West and we work hard to help our clients win, so it’s nice to do a little winning of our own.
“To be recognised as being in the top three employers of the year is brilliant; it provides external validation that the way I look after the team, and the way we look after each other, is the best way for individual life balance and for a professional dedication that helps our clients continue to win.
“We are all very proud of Sajia, who studied hard to learn everything there is to know about bidding, culminating in a two-year apprenticeship being completed in just 12 months. She is now a brilliant bid writer and is helping to encourage others to enter our profession too as she is developing an insight programme to be released this summer.
“These are not awards where you have to buy a table to win (because sadly we know that’s what people think these days), these are genuine awards where the little people are rubbing shoulders with the giants, and we definitely held our own.”
