The Westbury Community Campus Team (formerly the Westbury Community Operations Board) has been meeting with a range of services and groups as part of its work to develop a working proposal.
The proposed Westbury Campus aims to make it easier for local people to access a range of facilities by making better use of three key buildings in Westbury – the library, the swimming pool and Leighton Recreation Centre.
The campus project is being developed jointly by the local community, Wiltshire Council and its partners. In April and May it met with the Westbury Heritage Society, the registration service and the White Horse Surgery. The team is expecting to meet with other groups and services and welcomes invitations to find out more from any group or organisation or resident that might want to use the campus.
The Westbury campus team has also been developing a communications plan to help ensure local people and organisations are kept informed about the campus project and know how to get involved.
The team has also welcomed the new members appointed by the area board. The team now consists of Brenda Pyne (chairman), David Jenkins (area board representative), Neil Hawker (users and community group), Tumpale Phiri-Thorne (deputy member), Alison Irving (users and community group), Sue Ezra (town council representative), Tim Wright (deputy member), Bill Jarvis (users and community group), Sally Hendry (area board manager), Matthew Woolford (campus development manager) and a youth advisory group representative.
The team said that it is with regret that they have received the resignation of David Bradshaw as a deputy member.
