WESTBURY Folk Dance Club’s autumn term has just begun, and they are extending an open invitation for locals to get their toes tapping.
The club meets at Westbury Leigh Church Hall at 7.30pm on the first and third Thursday evening of every month. They invite anyone who might be interested in country dancing to go along for a free first session to either watch or get involved.
Organiser Ann Polden said, “If you did country dancing at school or have gone to barn dances then you will already have an idea about this sort of dancing, but absolute beginners tend to pick it up quickly. Dancing is a fun way to keep fit; no special clothing is necessary, but comfortable low shoes will help you dance more easily.
“You don’t need to bring a partner, so be bold and come on your own. Our club has been running for 38 years and we hope you will find us sociable and welcoming, we look forward to meeting you!”
The club has a tea break at 8.30pm and finish at about 9.30pm. The sessions are not age restricted, but school age children from year five upwards should come with a responsible adult.
The next dates are 18th September, 2nd and 16th October at 7.30pm at Westbury Leigh Church Hall.
