VEHICLES of all shapes and sizes converged on Bratton for the 18th Westbury Transport and Vintage Gathering. 
Also known locally as the Transport Extravaganza, the event was held in Top Field in Bratton on the weekend of the 27th-28th April.
Vehicles from a bygone age, including stationary engines, military vehicles, cars, fire engines, bicycles and tractors were on display, while there were also plenty of stalls and fairground entertainment.
Rain put a dampener on last year’s event but this year the exhibits enjoyed sunshine and stayed dry most of the weekend.
Organiser Keith Miller said, “We were very pleased with the weekend. The weather treated us much more kindly than it did last year and we had a good turn out. People said how much they enjoyed it.”
The event is now in its 18th year and Keith says that the ethos behind the event has remained the same over the years. He said, “The formula has been broadly the same from day one. It’s an event for enthusiasts, organised by enthusiasts. We’re not a commercial pushy organisation, and it’s not designed to make a profit.
“It’s designed to enable people with an interest in machinery to get together and for other people to come and have a look. The emphasis is the vintage vehicles and the social element.”
