Year 6 staff and children from Westbury Junior School recently spent a fun day at Hampton Court Palace.
After studying the Tudors and Henry VIII for the past two terms, it was great to bring their learning to life as well as being a nice treat after a taxing week of SATs exams.
Teaching assistant Andy Bodymore said, “It was a really great day out and allowed the children to gain a good understanding of life in Tudor times.”
The children were able to explore the grand rooms of the palace including the chapel, the wine cellar, the astronomical clock and the kitchen, where some of the children were even able to have a go at turning the spit. They were able to meet some Tudor characters and ask them questions about life at the palace whilst sharing what they had learned in the classroom.
Earlier this term, the children wrote ghostly narratives about Young Henry. The visit included the supposedly haunted gallery and everyone was pleased to report that there was nothing untoward going on during their visit!
