THE ladies of the Westbury Local Committee for Cancer Research UK have pulled together a recipe book containing over 100 sumptuous delights to share with others in a bid to raise vital funds for the life saving charity.
Sheila Carruthers, group chairman said, “It has been a difficult project but we are delighted with the end result. We have so far made £342 from the sale of books and are keen to reach our target of £1,000.”

Maria Gomez, area fundraising manager for the charity added, “Cancer Research UK has made enormous progress in the fight against cancer and continues to do so. However, we have only been able to do this thanks to the dedication and commitment of our volunteers and supporters, without whom we would not be able to fund our vital research.
“£5, the cost of one recipe book, would help us to fund the cost of 150 glass slides for studying cells and tumour samples in detail under the microscope. £1,000 could cover around two months’ running expenses for a clinical trial investigating hormone therapy to improve the treatment of prostate cancer.”
