All the children of Westbury Leigh C of E Primary School took part in a school Race for Life on Tuesday 16th June.
The school reports, “The children worked together within their year groups to complete a certain amount of laps of a course. All staff joined in from teachers and teaching assistants to even the school mascot, Columbus the swan, who made his way around with a couple of students.
“At the end, every child and adult received a medal for their huge effort and brilliant contribution to a worthwhile cause.
“Although this was a fun, active afternoon, the children have also spent time discussing the seriousness of cancer and the effect that this has on people. “
Event organiser and teacher, Meg Croker said, “It was great to see the school coming together in an active way for such a good cause.
“We have so many sponsorships still coming in, all of our students have made outstanding contributions. One in particular is Hannah Down aged seven, who has raised £120 for Cancer Research today.”
Hannah’s mum, Gillian said, “Thank you to all the students of Westbury Leigh Primary School who have raised so much money for a cause that greatly has affected our family and so many families out there.”
