A MAYOR’S charity auction, which was held at the Laverton last week, has raised £1,350 for mayor’s chosen charities.
Mayor of Westbury, cllr David Windess hosted the event for the charities Macmillan, Bath Cats and Dogs Home and Imperial Charity.
The event was well attended with 85 guests enjoying a three-course meal with entertainment by the Andrews Massey Duo and Rod Scarth before the auction began.
Donations of auction prizes was received from many people in the community with items including afternoon teas, beauty treatments, days out, a hamper, various vouchers and a tandem skydive as well as many others.
The mayor, cllr David Windess said, “It was an absolute success, it was very well attended and we raised a great amount for some amazing charities. It’s more then I hoped to raise and I would say it’s the most successful charity auction I have held.
“I’d like to thank all of the businesses who supported the event and were so thoughtful and kind with their donations. I would also like to thank all of those who attended the event and were so generous with their bids.”
Representatives of the mayor’s nominated charities were also in attendance and were delighted with the amount raised.
