OVER 200 people made their way to the Paragon Hall in Westbury on 5th November for the Westbury Model Railway Show organised by the West Wiltshire Gauge 0 Group.
Group organiser Rod Towler said, “All the layouts were outstanding this year making it one of the best show the West Wiltshire Gauge 0 Group have put on in Westbury.
“More than 200 people braved the unpleasant weather conditions and visited the show. There were model railway enthusiasts, some who had travelled some distance including two from Welwyn Garden City and one from just north of Weston-super-Mare.
“There were a lot of return visitors including one who told me they had been to all the shows we have held in Westbury. Most pleasing was the number of families at the show and seeing the delight on their faces.
“My thanks to both Keith and Ashley for inciting the children to operate their layouts. Modellers of the future let us hope.
“Star attraction, Keith’s ever popular 0 Gauge Test Track, was surrounded nearly all the time with visitors sitting and watching full length trains go by including the famous Devon Belle hauled by Merchant Nay ‘Royal Mail’ in blue livery. Time was taken for visitors and exhibitors to sit and enjoy coffee and cakes and all the other delights ably produced and served by our lovely Mel and Sue who have my grateful thanks for all their hard work. My thanks must go to all exhibitors, the traders and demonstrators for the high quality of the stands. One travelled from Newport in Wales to be there.
“My grateful thanks to all the members of the West Wiltshire Gauge 0 Group for all their hard work in putting on the show. Thanks also to Andy and Roxi of AM Print and Copy of Trowbridge for the superb show guide. Most of all my thanks to all the visitors to the show for staying a while, having fun and enjoying their time watching the trains go by.
“We hope to see you all again next year. If you would be interested in finding out more about our group, please contact me on 01380 831147.”
