A NEW clay shooting experience day has been set up by a local Westbury resident.
Coombs Estate Ltd owner Mark Coombs has recently set up Coombs Clay Shooting which had its first official day of shooting on Saturday 22nd February.
Mark, a BASC member (The British Association for Shooting and Conservation), wanted to set up something that the public could enjoy.
He said, “I decided to promote the sport by setting up this experience day. There has been a lot of prejudice towards the sport and shooting – some justified of course – but I wanted to show shooting in a positive light by introducing people to the sport in a safe and pleasant environment.
“The event was such a great success and we are now working on organising the next shooting weekend on a much bigger scale due to the response we had from this one.
“We have had a real range of people join us for the first event, from beginner to experienced, young to old, male to female, and I hope a variety of people continue to join us for more clay shooting in the months to come.”
“A Clay Pigeon Shooting Association (CSPA) qualified tutor was on hand to provide expert advice and training at our first experience day and will also be there for the next events to come.”
The event took place at Greenhill Fields in North Bradley and was fully covered by insurance and had prior consultation with the police.
