Senior Partner at Pinniger Finch & Co Solicitors in Westbury, Bill White, will be tackling the Bath Half Marathon on Sunday 12th March to raise funds for Genesis Trust.
Having a preference for cycling, this is Bill’s first foray into running for 30 years and it’s not a past-time he is particularly enjoying; especially training around his home in Frome with all the hills. However, as the Bath Half route is fairly flat, he hopes that the hill training will assist him to complete the 13.1 mile course in a fairly reasonable time.
Genesis Trust is a charity which supports the vulnerable and homeless in the local community. They provide a drop-in service for people who need food, clothes or just to have someone to listen to them and offer advice. The Life Skills project they operate, works with people who may be vulnerable due to mental health issues, loneliness or problems with confidence. The courses cover all sorts of topics including creative writing, money management, book group, cooking and art. In the last year they worked with 156 people on 30 different courses, enabling some to go onto further education or gain work placements.
Bill said, “I have seen an increasing number of homeless in Bath and society’s capacity to manage this fact of life is under strain and organisations such as the Genesis Trust need all the financial help they can get.”
Bill is hoping to raise £1,000 for the charity. If you would like to support his fundraising activity, visit www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Bill-White1 or alternatively, any donations can be dropped into the offices of Pinniger Finch & Co on Church Street, Westbury.
