(68) Westbury Squadron were pleased to be presented with a £550 cheque from Lynette and Andy Hobbs, publicans of The Duke in Bratton recently.
The money was given in recognition for cadets attendance and help at The Help for Heroes weekend held at the pub at the end of August. Andy heard that the squadron were raising funds towards a new minibus, and he was happy to help the squadron reach its goal.
The squadron has now purchased its ‘new wheels’, bought from the Three Villages Minibus committee (Edington, Erlestoke and Coulston). The Three Villages Minibus committee now has a new minibus and was glad to see the old one go to good use.
Further money was raised from the sale of the cadets’ old minibus kindly donated by Chantry Court Retirement Home of Westbury, a grant from the Westbury Area Board and the cadets fundraising.
68 (Westbury) Squadron goes from strength to strength and currently has 26 members. The 16 seat minibus will transport them to events and activities and help to fulfil their training and dedication to the community.
