At the September meeting Westbury WI’s speaker was Nigel Inseal, who is a local first aid responder, and explained to members what his job involved.
Jill Banham reported, “Nigel gave us valuable information on what to look for if someone was having a stroke or heart attack, and what action we could take while waiting for an ambulance. Our October meeting will be our harvest supper get together. Future speakers planned will be a talk on an ex-leper colony and the RNLI. We will also be holding our annual Christmas meal in December. We also have a book and craft group who meet once a month in a members home. We have a skittles team who play once a week and who recently won their first match of the season.
“If you have not joined us, you have missed a garden party held in a member’s garden with delicious food brought along by members, a visit to the Ginger Piggery at Boyton which included lunch, and a visit to the theatre in Frome to see Paul Merton.
“If you are new to the area, come along and hear what we get up to. We meet on the third Thursday of the month at The Chalford Hotel 6.45pm for 7.00pm. For details on any of the above or further information, please contact our secretary Pauline Hawthorne on 01373 823685.”
