Wiltshire councillor Suzanne Wickham, who represents Ethandune, which covers the areas of Dilton Marsh, Hawkeridge, Heywood, Bratton, Edington and Coulston, has listed her main objections, which she has submitted to the Wiltshire Council planning portal.
She writes, “My concerns are for the people of Ethandune and of course Westbury.
“I have concentrated on three elements of the NREL application, firstly the impact on highways, that the increase in traffic, mainly HGVs, will have.
“Specifically the B3097, which is a main route into Westbury Trading Estate from the A350, and where the Community Area Transport Group of Westbury Area Board has already agreed funding to investigate this area of highway in relation to speed and volume of traffic.
“This has been prompted by increased concern from residents of Hawkeridge, for their safety, including using the junction to enter and exit their village due to the speed, volume and size of traffic already using this road.
“I am concerned that a detailed survey of the road system has not been undertaken before this application was submitted.
“I am also concerned how the air quality in Westbury and the surrounding villages will be affected by this additional traffic.
“This proposed development will in my view, also have a negative effect on the landscape as its height will be visible from miles around which will not enhance the countryside in this area.”
