Westbury travelled to play league leaders Marshfield in the latest West of England Wiltshire Division, hoping to continue their long unbeaten winning run and also hoping to gain revenge for the defeat at home earlier in the season.
Westbury made one change with Luke Dilena coming in for Clark Evans. Marshfield won the toss and immediately decided to put Westbury in to bat.
Westbury opened with the new opening partnership of Mills and Whiting and they made a superb start by putting on 60 in nine overs before Whiting was caught on the boundary for a fine 32.
After the dismissal Marshfield struck four times in quick succession with the total falling from 60 to 79. Then there was a good partnership of 22 MacDonald and Gill and they took the total to 101 when Gill was dismissed for 5.
Senneck joined MacDonald and they took the total to 125 when MacDonald was out for 24. Senneck with the help of the lower order took Westbury to 165 all out. Bond (3-26 off 7 overs) ably supported by Clist (3-23) had the best figures.
When Marshfield batted they were completely overwhelmed by some outstanding bowling by the Westbury bowling attack. At the end of their innings they were all out for 62 runs. Carroll (3-20 off 7 overs) ably supported by Mills (3-19 off 7 overs) had the best figures.
This was the best performance of the season by a very confident Westbury side who have now beaten the top six sides and it will probably mean that if Westbury win two out of their last three matches they will be confirmed as league champions, hopefully!
