Christmas preparations are in full swing for the Street Fayre and Lights Switch on, on Saturday 3rd December.
The Street Fayre this year is packed with stalls and entertainment, including ferret racing, Dave Hickory with his balloons, magic from Grant Maidment – The Bath Magician, Jingle Bells the reindeer will be wandering around, and of course Santa will be in his grotto, which is new and improved this year courtesy of ‘Westbury Shed’.
Music will come from Kirsty Clinch and Cley Hill Stompers, and there will be dance from ALW Dance and Infinity dance troupes. There will be a funfair in the High Street car park, with rides and games for all ages.
This year the ever-popular Christmas Tree festival will be running alongside the Street Fayre across the whole weekend, opening on Thursday 1st Dec, with fairy light half-hours on Friday and Saturday nights, where all the trees will be lit just by their own fairy lights.
The highlight of the Christmas event is always the lights switch on, which will feature some new lights for the High Street this year, and there will be plenty of mince pies and mulled wine available to keep out the winter chill.
The Street Fayre is on from 10am – 4pm, and the Christmas Lights build up will start from around 6pm with the lights switch on at 6.30pm. More details of all the events happening in and around Westbury over the Christmas period can be found at http://westburytowncouncil.gov.uk
