A WESTBURY care home has been given the highest possible rating, ‘Outstanding’, by national watchdog the Care Quality Commission (CQC) after a recent inspection.

The full inspection report can be read online at www.cqc.org.uk
Deborah Ivanova, the CQC’s deputy chief inspector of adult social care said, “Greengates demonstrated that they were a compassionate and innovative service who exceptionally supported older people and had a real awareness of the issues people face when living with dementia.
“It was encouraging to see that people were cared for by skilled and knowledgeable staff who were creative and pro-active in their approach. The service fully supported people to remain active, independent and to follow their interests. There was a wide range of activities available that brought positive outcomes and pleasure to people’s lives.
“The service continuously worked to empower and improve people’s quality of life. People enjoyed the care that this service delivered, enjoyed socialising, having fun with interesting things to do and learn. The team should be extremely proud of the work they do. I congratulate the staff at Greengates for achieving our highest rating.”
The report said that the management offered a strong and effective leadership, and made sure that people were involved in making decisions about their care and the running of the home. It also found that activities were designed to stimulate conversations and promote interaction among resident, and to improve the overall quality of people’s lives.
