AS a new season starts for West Wilts Youth Sailing Association, developments on their new clubhouse are in progress, but the association still need valuable funds for its completion.
The sailing club is currently undergoing a site move from one side of the lake to the other, due to a housing development. Linden Homes, who are developing the housing site, has completed the ground works for the site of the new clubhouse, and the sailing club has secured part-funding from Sport England. However, they need to raise the remaining funds themselves.
Members have organised fundraising opportunities and are undertaking challenges to raise money. These include a sponsored virtual mountain climb by one of their members, an upcoming quiz, a ‘Sponsor a Brick’ campaign. The sailing club has been granted Giftaid registration to allow the club to claim extra funding from donations at no extra cost to the individual.
Evie Platt will complete her ‘Virtual Mountain Challenge’, ascending Cley Hill multiple times to hopefully climb the equivalent of a British mountain, on Saturday 27th April. You can donate at: https://mydonate. bt.com/fundraisers/evmc.
David Long is organising a fun family quiz night on Thursday 16th May at the Railway Inn in Westbury with everyone welcome and all monies raised going to the club.

The thought that has gone into the needs alongside a tight budget and with the kindness of a variety of local people and businesses will make it a true asset to ourselves, Westbury and the wider community.”
