WESTBURY Running Group will be launching its next ‘Couch to 5k’ beginner’s course this month.
A single taster session for beginners to see whether the group is right for them will take place before the start of the ten-week programme. This session will run from Leigh Park Community Centre at 6:30pm on Wednesday 21st September with new members requested to arrive from 6:15pm to allow time for registration.
The full ten-week Couch to 5k programme will then begin at 6:30pm on Wednesday 28th September. The first week comprises alternate one minute of jogging and one minute of walking, with the second week increasing to two minutes of jogging and one minute walking and so on, with the jogging times increasing by a further minute, week on week.
Finally, the course will be completed by a 5k run in which all the group members will participate. This will take place on Wednesday 30th November and thereafter beginners are invited to join in the normal twice per week running programme.
