KEEN local astronomer, Dwayne Alexander, took these photographs of the partial eclipse of the sun, from his home in the centre of Westbury on 25th October.
He said, “The main image is the point of maximum eclipse and the four images combined show the start of the eclipse with max eclipse being the bottom left and just as the skies cleared the end of the eclipse on the bottom right.
“The partial eclipse was seen throughout the UK as the moon skirted the side of the sun, making it look like someone had taken a bite out of the side of it.
“Sadly, hazy high cloud made getting detailed images very difficult, giving a “foggy” look to my images. Normally on the moon’s edge, mountains can be made out, although they are still just about visible but not clear. The photos were taken using a special solar filter fitted over a telephoto lens allowing safe viewing and image captures of the event.”
