Volunteers from Dilton Marsh took part in a litter pick this month to help keep their village tidy. The group was made up of 22 villagers and included children from the village school, local residents and councillors.
“Our summer pick was well attended and litter was minimal,” said organiser Councillor Angie Gibbs from Dilton Marsh Parish Council. “One group even found a snakeskin.”
Alongside the event, other parish councillors held an open house in the Memorial Hall on the same day, 13th July.
“The hall was open for a couple of hours where members of the public could pop in to chat, find out about what we do and maybe even show an interest in joining us,” said Cllr Gibbs. “Two members of the public have shown interest in joining the speed watch team soon.”
“Complimentary refreshments, including home-baked cakes and sausage rolls were served alongside tea, coffee and squash for the children and were appreciated by all who helped on the litter pick or popped in for a chat,” Cllr Gibbs added.
The next litter pick will be in the autumn. The details will be put on Dilton Marsh Parish Council’s Facebook page and on their website www.diltonmarshparishcouncil.gov.uk.
