A Westbury company has bounced back after a £100,000 theft earlier this year.
Hire Standards, located on the West Wilts Trading Estate, was targeted on Saturday 8th March.
As previously reported by the White Horse News, balaclava-clad thieves made off in a white transit van with a range of plant and machinery equipment, including small diggers, track barrows, rollers, and a concrete crusher.
After a lengthy insurance process and new security measures made at the yard, the company is now back on its feet.
Matthew Rowe, director and proprietor of Hire Standards Ltd, said, “New machines have been purchased to replace the missing ones, and the only machine we recovered has been repaired and put back on the fleet ready for hire.
“The camaraderie has been great by the businesses we deal with, people are shocked from the theft. Everyone has rallied round to help manufacture and install extra security.”
Since the break-in, Hire Standards has reinforced its security, replacing fences and locks and installing concrete roadblocks to prevent further incidents.
Matt added that various other steps had also been taken to improve security around the business.
While it is the third time Hire Standards Ltd has been targeted by thieves, Matt said he won’t let the incident bring him down.
Previously, he said, “We have to keep going and not let petty crime bring down our community or our livelihood. It’s hard, but what else can I do?”
Wiltshire Police, who the White Horse News contacted for comment, are investigating the incident.
