Westbury is preparing to host this year’s Wiltshire Chilli Fest, featuring Latin funk, food stalls, entertainment and, of course, the popular chilli-eating contest.
This year’s event will take place on Saturday 20th September, from 1pm to 7pm, in Westbury High Street.
Ryan Child, events manager for Westbury Town Council, said, “We have the Chilli eating contest, the great selection of chilli traders, children’s activities and delicious street-food traders this year. The music this year is also going to be incredible, with some acts just way beyond what you’d see at your average show. It’s going to be a special atmosphere despite a bit of roadworks because of the rotunda development.”
Opening the event this year is 15-year-old local DJ Jude Kinzett. His love for music from a young age threw him into DJing in 2024. Being a DJ has been Jude Kinzett’s passion ever since.
Other music acts include The Band of Others, a 5-piece ‘pop n rock’ covers band playing hit songs and anthems from the 60’s to the present day, and Jazz Dylan, who will deliver an original set, along with a few known hits delivered in a unique way.
Jamma De Samba will return this year, bringing the rhythm and the beats to the Westbury streets with their huge line-up of talented marching percussionists and performers.
Headlining the event will be 8-piece Latin band The Midnight Alliance, who are known for playing infectious grooves and jazzy beats in their own unique and energetic style. They have performed at Glastonbury Festival, Boomtown Fair, Wychwood Festival and Lakefest.
All artists will be performing on an outdoor mainstage at Soisy-Sur-Seine Gardens in the town centre.
Event organisers also have prizes for the best flower outfits on the day, so are encouraging people to dress up for the event.
