Three decades of family fun at local play centre

A family play centre in Melksham is celebrating more than 30 years of providing fun and entertainment to local families.

Boomerang Family Entertainment Centre on Bowerhill first opened in August 1995 with the aim of providing a safe place for children to play and a welcoming space for parents to relax.

Over the decades the centre has expanded and modernised and it continues to be a popular destination for family days out, children’s parties and active play.

“We’re a family-run business and opened Boomerang with two people in mind: the child and the parent; a place where little ones could explore, learn and grow, while grown-ups could relax and connect,” said owner Gary Cooke.

“Today, Boomerang continues to be one of Wiltshire’s leading destinations for family fun, imaginative play, children’s parties and active experiences. We offer a rich variety of activity zones designed for different ages and abilities; there is something for every age!”

The activity zones are:

Main Play Area (ages 5–11): Three giant slides, a football zone, climbing wall, rope bridges and hidden tunnels, ideal for energetic kids seeking excitement and challenge.

Bondi Beach Under-5s Zone: A themed, safe and spacious area featuring gentle slides, a lifeguard tower, imaginative play spaces and brand-new interactive play cars, helping little ones build confidence through movement and creativity.

Under-18 Months Area: A cosy, gated space with baby mats, sensory toys, walkers, books and comfy seating so parents and carers can relax while babies explore safely.

Lazer Storm Arena (6+): A fully air-conditioned, neon-lit, state-of-the-art lazer arena, perfect for ages 6+ looking for fast-paced fun.

The Bounce House: An adrenaline-filled indoor trampoline park with a tumbling track, stunt platforms, battle beam and penalty shoot-out, fun for children, teens and families.

The centre hosts hundreds of birthday parties each year, offering soft play, lazer and trampoline packages. These include play time, food, private party rooms and extras such as return vouchers and refreshments for adults.

“We continue to support families with special offers and seasonal events, including after-school Play & Eat deals; 50% off entry for new customers and year-round themed events and promotions,” added Gary.

“As one of the only soft play centres remaining in Wiltshire, we’re proud to continue serving the community seven days a week. We’re committed to being a warm, safe and accessible space for families and we are deeply grateful for the support that has kept us thriving for more than three decades.

“For more updates and fun, don’t forget to check out our socials, explore our website for current activities and offers, or simply give us a call. We look forward to welcoming you and just like a Boomerang, we hope you keep coming back!”
