Community comes together for second ride for Lennix

Bikers gathered in Westbury to set off on a second memorial ride in memory of local boy Lennix Sutcliffe.

Lennix, from Dilton Marsh, died after being hit by a car in 2024 and would have celebrated his 10th birthday on 30th March this year.

Around 55 bikers met at Aimi’s Cafe on Westbury High Street, riding to the next stop at Cheddar, where 15 more bikes joined, before finishing the journey at Weston-super-Mare.

“As a family, we can’t thank the community, the biker community and Jeff Farrell of the Wilts and Somerset Bike and Trike group enough for organising this event and everyone that donated and took the time to attend Ride for Lennix,” said Jackie, Lennix’s mum.

“It means the world to us to see that Lennix is remembered and helps to raise funds for some fantastic charities.”

“We chose the route to Weston-super-Mare as it was one of Lennix’s favourite places to visit, he loved playing on the beach there and seeing all the motorbikes at Weston and at Cheddar,” said Jackie.

Ride for Lennix raised £350 in cash on the day, alongside additional online donations, for Yeovil Freewheelers Blood Bikes, an emergency voluntary service delivering blood, platelets, medication, breast milk, CT scans and equipment to hospitals, hospices, nursing homes and private addresses across much of Somerset and Dorset.

“We chose Yeovil Freewheelers emergency blood bike charity as it is run by volunteers and relies totally on donations to be able to continue to provide its vital service free to the NHS and other organisations,” said Jackie. “Lennix had a passion for motorbikes and helping people, so this charity fits perfectly and combines his passions.”

The Wilts and Somerset Bike and Trike group have also organised a charity ride from Westbury to Poole on 25th April. The event is 125cc friendly, open to all, and costs £5 per bike to attend, with funds going to Owen’s World Foundation to purchase bleed kits.
