A new sports facility is being built in Edington as part of a project by a village pub and farm shop.
Work is already under way at The Three Daggers on a project that also includes a new car park with more than 40 additional spaces, a new beer garden and the relocation of the existing village play park.
The new multi-use games area (MUGA) will provide space for football, basketball and other activities, and will be owned by the parish council.
Katie Thompson, from The Three Daggers, said the changes were about investing in the village as well as improving the business.
“Our locals are at the heart of The Three Daggers and we’re incredibly grateful for their continued support over the years. They’re more than just customers to us, they’re part of the Daggers family,” she said.
“The team here has been working towards this for a long time, so it’s really exciting to finally see everything coming to life.”
The new car park is intended to help ease roadside parking and congestion, while the existing staff car park at the front of the site will be turned into a beer garden.
The village play park will also be relocated, with The Three Daggers planning to hold an annual fundraising event and contribute some of the money raised towards future improvements.
Katie said, “If we can make The Three Daggers even better while creating something positive for the wider village, then that’s a win for everyone.”
