AT Erlestoke Golf Club members and visitors alike have been enjoying the freedom of getting outdoors and playing a game they love, and are being joined by many people who have never played the game before.
A spokesperson for the club explains, “Steve Blazey, the PGA Golf professional at Erlestoke, told us that he had never seen his lesson book so full at this time of the year with men and women new to golf.
“Steve, who is regarded as one of the top teaching professionals in the area, works on a philosophy of making golf fun and takes this through to his teaching where many of his students have said they have never enjoyed a lesson so much.
“Erlestoke is proving very popular with new members due to the quality of the course and the lowest membership rates in the area, just £550 a year for a full seven day membership.
“Erlestoke took the decision a couple of year ago to try to encourage more people to take up or return to the game by offering this fantastic rate.
“We even offer the more casual golfer an opportunity of becoming a fully-fledged member with the Silver membership option. You pay an administration fee of £50 and receive heavily discounted Green Fee rates when you play.
“As lockdown eases, Erlestoke have taken a cautious approach to re-opening but expect to have the bar and restaurant fully open in line with government guidelines and once again be serving a full menu of excellent meals and bar snacks.
“Again, depending on how things progress with the dreaded Covid, we will be hosting a full range of functions and indeed the function room will be available for private bookings. The highlight of the summer will be the club’s party night and Summer disco on 24th July, fingers crossed this will signify a full return to normality.
“The future looks bright for golf clubs in our area and Erlestoke hopes the popularity of this great game continues long into the future.”
