Last season Yate won both fixtures very narrowly on their way to promotion and on this occasion they needed a late equaliser to stay in the competition, after a real battle in wet and windy conditions!
Westbury were quick out of the blocks and fully deserved their early lead when Josh Jenkins dispatched his penalty kick after a foul on Ben Starr.
United continued to be the better team; however the visitors drew level on 24, a foul just outside the box gave Lucas Tomlinson the chance to strike a lovely low free kick.
Jenkins brought a save out of Aaron Sainsbury with a skidding shot then visiting forward Chris Zebroski’s attempt from an acute angle hit the post!
Aaron Witchell regained the lead for United with a wonderful left footer into the top corner five minutes before the break!
There was nearly another goal for Westbury when Jenkins worked space for a cross which was just cleared as Jack Witcombe went for a header.
Yate gradually upped their pressure throughout a less eventful second-half where attacks for both teams were well defended by their respective opponents. Dan Restorick, Aaron Cockerill and Leon Greenland worked exceptionally hard to keep Town at bay, all making vital interceptions to keep it 2-1.
The pressure finally told on 89 when Marlon Jackson finished through a crowded penalty area.
Added time saw heavy legged players unable to find a way to a winning goal at both ends. CJ Stewart twice ran out of steam in the final third while Zebroski and Jackson were likewise at the other end.
