The newly refurbished gym at Leighton Recreation Centre is set to reopen its doors from lunchtime on Wednesday 22nd October, unveiling a fresh, modern space designed to energise and motivate.
The project, which began on 19th September, has focused on modernising the fitness suite to create a more functional, comfortable and inspiring space for everyone – from beginners to more seasoned gym-goers.
The upgraded fitness suite will include a reconfigured accessible layout with new cardio equipment, a dedicated strength and resistance zone with functional training kit, and an expanded free weight area featuring an Olympic lifting rack and bench press. It will be fitted with top-of-the-range equipment from Pulse Fitness, along with new flooring, full redecoration, and improved air conditioning.
Cllr Mel Jacob, Wiltshire Council’s Cabinet Member for Public Health, Leisure, Libraries, and Communities, said, “We’re thrilled that the refurbishment at Leighton Recreation Centre is almost complete and we can reveal the new-look gym to the customers. The upgraded gym will offer a more modern, inclusive and welcoming space with high-quality equipment, which will hopefully inspire people to move and achieve a wide range fitness goals.
“Whether you’re lifting your first weight, training for a marathon, or looking for a healthier lifestyle, this upgraded facility has something for everyone. We’re proud to invest in our communities and can’t wait to welcome customers back to experience it for themselves.
“We want to thank our customers for their patience while the works have been completed and we can’t wait to welcome them back to the new-look gym. We hope they enjoy the improvements as much as we do.”
